The Western Australian regional venue has received significant federal funding through the Revive Live program, proving that quality live music isn't just for the capital cities.

Great news for regional music lovers: Albany Town Hall in Western Australia has been awarded $150,000 through the Federal Government's Revive Live funding program to expand its live music offerings in 2026.

Five Shows Locked In

The funding will deliver five live music events throughout 2026, scheduled for:

  • February 21st
  • March 21st
  • June 13th
  • August 22nd
  • November 21st

The expanded program follows the success of Live @ the Town Hall events since the series debuted in 2022.

Building on Success

"Our 2025 concerts drew large and diverse audiences, with several shows selling out," said City of Albany arts and culture manager Paul Nielsen. "This funding allows us to continue presenting high quality contemporary music in a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for audiences of all ages."

Last year's program featured headline acts including Great Gable, Noah Dillon, and South Summitโ€”proving that regional venues can attract quality Australian talent.

Why Regional Venues Matter

For too long, Australian live music has been concentrated in capital cities, leaving regional audiences underserved and regional artists without nearby venues to develop their craft.

Programs like Revive Liveโ€”and venues like Albany Town Hallโ€”are changing that equation. They provide:

  • Touring opportunities for artists outside the Sydney-Melbourne-Brisbane circuit
  • Live music experiences for regional audiences who can't always travel to capital cities
  • Economic benefits for regional hospitality and tourism

Part of a Bigger Picture

Albany isn't alone. Regional venues across Australia are fighting forโ€”and receivingโ€”support to build sustainable live music programs. In Tasmania, Launceston has extended its free Music In The Park series to run through March, now in its 18th year.

The message is clear: Australian music culture extends well beyond the capital cities, and it deserves investment.
